Obtaining a Driving Licence C+E
The most comprehensive HGV license is the C+E. It allows you to drive a lorry using an unloader or semi-trailer that weighs over 750 kg.
The course for category CE is typically a natural continuation of the training that leads to category C. It requires at least ten hours of instruction that include driving on training tracks and roads with varying traffic density.
Requirements
A driving licence is a valid document that shows that a driver has met the legal requirements for driving. These requirements vary from country to country, but they generally include passing the test and not having a history of traffic violations. The tests are usually divided into theory and practice, although there are some exceptions to this rule. The first step towards obtaining an license is to complete a driving course, and pass the theory test. A driver must be physically fit to drive. Certain countries require proof, for example, a medical exam.
The next step is to get an Category C license, also known as the Car copyright. This permits you to drive trailers, passenger vehicles, and trucks up to 7.5 tons. If you already have an Cat C licence, you can upgrade to a Cat C + E license, which permits you to drive articulated heavy goods vehicles up to 44 tonnes.
To obtain a Category C license you must be 21 years old. This is the minimum age requirement, but you might be able obtain it earlier if have completed the required training for your Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (Driver CPC) or are currently in the process of completing it. You must also have an active copyright in your car in order to be eligible for a category C+E driver's licence.
The C+E category is the highest available hgv licence. The C+E licence combines both the C and E categories and is the most comprehensive HGV licence available. You must have a Category C licence in order to be eligible for the C+E licence, and you must also be qualified to pass a medical examination and a practical driving exam.
You must also be able to pass a medical exam and an eye test. The medical examiner will look for signs of heart disease and diabetes and other conditions. You must also be mentally fit to drive a car, and you must not have a history of substance abuse. If you suffer from a mental illness, the DVLA will scrutinize your application on a per-case basis.
Training
You can learn how to drive a truck while working. Many companies offer full driver training courses. They will instruct students on how to drive rigid or articulated heavy goods vehicles that weigh up 32 tonnes. The training is comprised of classroom instruction and on-road driving tests. The driving test is usually around 1.5 hours and consists of following a predetermined route. The examiner will communicate with you regarding directions and diverting.
After completing the course after which a person is issued the learner's permit (LL) which lasts for six months. The LL allows drivers to drive on public highways provided a licensed driver is on the road with them. Driving without a certified instructor is considered to be an offence.
When the training is completed, the student will receive the certificate from an approved driving school. This certificate should be presented to the Vehicle Inspection Officer when applying for a copyright. The VIO will then conduct a test of driving to ensure that the applicant is fit to drive a category C+E lorry.
After the driving test has been successfully completed, the VIO will issue an permanent license. The license will include information about the driver, like his name and father's name as well as the date of birth, address, authorized vehicle types, emergency contact information blood group fingerprint impression, and photograph. The driver must undergo a medical exam before obtaining the license.
The license must be renewed every three years. It is usually accompanied by a document called a "vremennoe razreshenie". Exams
To obtain your license, you need to pass both a written test and a driving exam. The written test consists of 20 questions and you must be able to answer at a minimum 14 of them. The questions are based on information in Chapters 4 through 11 of the NYS Driver's Manual. Learn the manual and practice the test to prepare for the test. It is important to take your time during the test and to not rush through the questions.
The driving exam consists of a demonstration of basic driving skills including slope starting (for manual transmission vehicles), backing-up and an obstacle course. The examiner will also evaluate your ability to respond quickly to roadside emergencies. The examiner will also verify that you have properly insured your vehicle. During the driving test you are not allowed to have passengers other that your interpreter or sponsor. You cannot use any recording device unless it is approved by the examiner.
The written and oral exams are conducted at DVS offices in New York City, Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, Suffolk, Onondaga and Albany counties. Online scheduling is available, or applicants can visit their nearest DVS office. When scheduling an appointment, applicants are able to select the time and date they prefer. Applicants must present a valid driver's licence and proof of liability insurance to the DVS office. The oral and written tests are available in English, Albanian (in Albanian), French, Hebrew, Italian and Korean.
A thorough job analysis is completed prior to the development of each exam. The job analysis includes watching incumbents, conducting surveys, interviewing, and analyzing current documentation. A group of Subject Experts (SME's) is established to review the job analyses and develop the exam questions. The SME's are extensively trained in the art of writing questions and are familiar with the skills, knowledge, and abilities required to do the job in a satisfactory manner.
The oral and written tests are designed to be as real as possible. Examiners may deny your license in certain circumstances. You could be denied a license if during the test, you drove in a reckless manner or were involved in an accident. Also, if you broke traffic laws, rules or regulations. In these cases you'll have to take the test again and pay additional fees.
Medical exam
In order to be able drive a truck in the EU the driver must pass a medical exam. The examination is conducted by a licensed doctor who checks the driver's general health and also their eyesight. A medical certificate allows the driver to get a C+E driving licence, valid for five years. The license is valid for renewal every year after that.
You must pass two tests to pass the driving test. The first is a theory-based test, while the other is a test that you can practice. The theory-based test contains 25 questions, which you have to answer in less than eight minutes. The final rule requires that the State-designated licensing authority (SDLA) publish the medical certification status of the CDL holders on their CDLIS driver record. This will help prevent fraudulent and false claims that the CDL holder is medically certified, when in reality, they aren't. The SDLA will be required to include contact information for the ME who performed the medical examination on the driver's records, to further discourage fraud. This requirement will remain in force until FMCSA releases new rules to address this issue. Motor carriers can keep a copy of the original or copy of the ME's certificate to prove that a driver is medical credentials, so they can prove the date the certificate was issued by the ME.
